The birds we love are in trouble. You can do even more to help today.

Love is in the air this month, and we want to make sure you remember the birds you love. Right now, they are in a code red crisis—and for migratory birds like the Scarlet Tanager that are especially vulnerable to wildfires, extreme heat waves, heavy rain and flooding, and urbanization, time is of the essence.

That’s why we’re counting on bird lovers like you to act now. When you start your annual donation today, your first gift will be matched, up to $25,000, thanks to a group of generous donors.

When we conserve bird habitat, we do more than protect biodiversity—we invest in the critical carbon-reducing benefits these ecosystems provide to combat climate change. Just last year, we had a number of conservation victories for birds across the country. We restored 34 acres of salt marsh and other important coastal habitat at Great Meadows marsh alongside our partners in Connecticut. We improved habitats for birds, fish, and other wildlife alongside our partners in South Chicago by restoring more than 100 acres of wetlands. We worked to acquire and protect nearly 800 acres of high-priority and high-conservation value land in South Carolina.

There are nearly 400 North American bird species at increasing risk of extinction due to climate change.

That list includes beloved species like the Scarlet Tanager.

Scarlet Tanagers could find two-thirds of their current breeding range unsuitable if climate change continues unchecked.

It comes down to this: Where we work—and when you help—birds are better off. But with so much at stake, we can and must do more. Show your love for birds by starting an annual donation now, while your first gift can still be matched.

Sincerely,

National Audubon Society
