I want to be clear about this. I’m proud of my record serving KS-03 families in Congress.

I’m proud of our work lowering prescription drug prices. I’m proud that I helped pass laws protecting marriage equality, tackling climate change, and working to reduce gun violence in our nation.

I’m proud to stand up for abortion rights and defend against assaults on our democracy.

And I always knew that, in this toss-up district, national Republicans would attack me for my record. It was never going to stop me from fighting for what I believe in.

But here’s the cold hard truth: The attacks this year are starting earlier than our team expected. National Republicans are already coming after me, and extremist super PACs are preparing to air negative ads against me any day now. And we don’t yet have the resources we need to fight back.

That’s why I’m coming to you today. Can I count on you to pitch in a few dollars and help me defend myself against these attacks? Every dollar will go toward getting our message out far and wide — explaining to voters why we can’t let national Republicans replace me with one of my extremist, anti-choice opponents.

This race is about a lot more than me and my record. It’s about what kind of leadership the people of Kansas deserve in Congress. And ultimately, it’s about the kind of leadership our nation deserves — because the outcome of this race could well determine whether Democrats win back control of the House, or whether we’re faced with two more years of extremist dysfunction.

I’d be so grateful for whatever you’re able to contribute — whether it’s $1 or $10 or $100 — because any amount will increase our odds of winning this race and keeping up the fight for Kansas families.
