In the Census Bureau's ongoing commitment to provide timely, actionable data for Puerto Rico, My Community Explorer for Puerto Rico was released in December as a companion for My Community Explorer for the mainland. Both interactive map-based dashboards make use of Community Resilience Estimates (CRE).

CRE for the mainland and CRE for Puerto Rico use a set of attributable risk factors to determine if a person is more or less likely to have a poor outcome to a stress or shock such as a natural disaster. One of the key components of the tool is it shows, in real time, natural disasters and overlays the disasters on top of census tracts where you can see the relationship of the disasters to the at-risk population where the disasters are happening.

Municipios and census tracts are rated as high risk, medium risk, or low risk of having a poor outcome to a stress or shock.

With the release of 2020 Island Areas Cross Tabulations data, data users can now find data about people or housing units by characteristics like age, educational attainment, occupation, earnings and income, marital status, and over 50 other topics. Data is available for American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Join this webinar to learn more about what Island Areas Cross Tabulated data are available, and how to access them through the Census Bureau's main data platform, data.census.gov. Our presenters will give participants a walkthrough of the data platform to locate Island Areas cross tabulations, as well as best practices and additional resources to help you with your search.
