It's the end of February, and that means if you're anything like me you're seeing non-stop requests for money from political campaigns and organizations. And as you have likely seen, there are some striking similarities in these emails and the tactics they use:

There's the 3x match!

And even the 10x match!

Here's the thing: none of that is real. No one is matching donations. They are trying to trick people into donating. It's cynical, and it's something we're never going to do here.

Instead, we're going to be up front. And the truth is a February fundraising deadline is not an official deadline. There's no post-February FEC report that we need to fill out.

But we do have very real February fundraising goals. And right now, we are very much behind where we need to be with time running out.

Almost all of the donations our campaign receives comes from people giving smaller donations — often in response to emails like this one. But that means we have to ask.

AAnd while I don't expect you to donate to every email we send, I hope that you will contribute to this one. It's an important time for our campaign, as we head into the rollercoaster of the election year.

With all that in mind, can you please use this link to contribute whatever you can afford today? There's no matching donation, no super-donor ready to 10x your contribution—but it will help ensure we win this Senate race in Michigan and probably the presidential campaign in the state, as well.
