For the first time ever, ALL Californians – no matter their political
beliefs - are realizing that THEY are their first line of defense in this
unprecedented period of crisis and turmoil. To add to the unrest, some
jurisdictions are releasing prisoners in efforts to stem the spreading of
COVID-19. What they are spreading instead is an increase of [1]crime and
fear.

That’s why people are flocking to buy something to protect themselves – a
gun. But many people are shocked at the rules that come with buying
one. PLUS, in some areas, people can’t even begin the process, because
local governments are actually forcing gun stores to close their doors.

SO WHAT ARE WE DOING ABOUT THIS?
* GOC is actively working to prevent communities from declaring gun
stores as “non-essential”.
* GOC is working daily with attorneys throughout the state to identify
where we must take legal action.
* GOC is speaking personally with County Sheriffs to stay strong against
those who want them to close gun stores.
* GOC is asking the federal institution that declares what infrastructure
sectors are “essential”, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security
Agency (CISA), which is part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security,
to include firearms dealers as essential, and if we succeed, all gun store
closures will be illegal under federal law.

And we are taking to the airwaves. GOC is always one of the first to
respond to the [2]media to explain why the anti-gun actions taken by some
government officials are unconstitutional and let them know they will be
challenged. [3]We believe that the media attention started by GOC is the
reason that L.A. County Sheriff Villanueva reversed his decision to shut
gun stores. This is a fluid situation and we are turning our attention to
every single municipality that threatens gun store closures such as Fresno
and San Jose.

HOW CAN YOU HELP? It’s simple, we need the financial resources to keep our
doors open and to pay the lawyers who are doing the job that must be done.
Our success depends on it. [4]PLEASE, DONATE TODAY!
