Meet Mardy the Moose
Hi there! It?s great to meet you. I?m Mardy. You may recognize me from a few Wyoming Game and Fish Department events; that?s right, I?m the dancing moose in the red shirt taking photos with my newly found friends. If you haven?t seen me around, I hope you will be at some of our upcoming events; I?d love to meet you. If you can?t make it, don?t worry! You can continue to read my updates in the Inspire a Kid newsletter to learn about me and hear about what I?ve been up to!
Well, I should tell you more about myself. I was born in the Medicine Bow Mountains near Laramie, Wyoming.
In my short time with the Game and Fish, I have already made 7,550 new friends. How, you may ask? By competing at a University of Wyoming women?s basketball game! My good friend Beaver and I were invited to race each other through an obstacle course during the game?s halftime.?
On Nov. 21, 2023, Beaver and I arrived at the University of Wyoming for their Kids Day event, where 36 different schools were attending to meet me! Well? maybe they were there to watch the University Cowgirls play basketball? but meeting Beaver and me was a bonus!
In no time, 7,550 people crammed into the stands, all eager to cheer on our University Cowgirls, all unaware that Beaver and I would be competing during halftime (what a fun little surprise!) I sat on the sidelines? waiting for my time to shine.?
The halftime buzzer rang, and off I went. I hurdled the hurdles, dodged the cones and tried to get the ball in the basket once, twice, three times ? and it went in! I won!
I congratulated my friend, Beaver, on his hard work but celebrated my victory with my new friends. It was a great day ? a day I will never forget.?
I hope to see you at an event soon. In the meantime, you can write to me by clicking this link or sending a letter to the Game and Fish office in Cheyenne (4600 Bishop Blvd., Attn: Mardy the Moose, Cheyenne, WY 82001). I?d love to hear from you!
Have you taken a photo with Mardy at an event?
