Because we are the new majority, together we rise
T he last bastion of abortion access in the Southeast
The Nation [[link removed]] just called it.
“Florida is the most important state to watch in 2024." — And no it’s not because of our Presidential-failure-of-a-candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis.
It's because we are "the last bastion of abortion access in the Southeast."
Even with the restrictive 15-week abortion ban DeSantis enacted, Florida is where women and others facing unwanted pregnancies or complicated medical situations come for quality care. We are one of only three states in the Southeast without a 6 week ban in effect. With more Black and Latina women in the South than anywhere else in the nation, we know what is at stake for our communities.
We came together to put in the work to change history, and more than 1,000,000 Floridians signed a petition to put abortion access on the ballot this November. By the end of next month, the Florida Supreme Court will decide if this constitutional amendment moves forward to the ballot.
When we are given the green light, Florida Rising will implement our most ambitious organizing plan yet, to ensure that the NEW MAJORITY in our state – committed to preventing government interference in medical decisions – show up at the polls.

If the Supreme Court denies us democracy and fails to allow us to vote, we have an aggressive plan to flip the seats of the worst elected officials who continuously attack our fundamental rights, our education system, our bodies, and our self-determination. Will you make a $15 donation today, so we are ready to launch into action [[link removed]] - no matter what the Supreme Court decides?
Florida isn't going to change overnight, but change never happens overnight. It happens petition signature by petition signature, porch conversation by porch conversation, through the work that organizers put in every day, year round.
Will you rush $15 to our election preparedness fund so that we are ready to go out the gates on April 1st? [[link removed]]
Forward,
Andrea Cristina Mercado
