Fellow Kansan,

Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! I’m pleased to update you on my work in Washington, D.C. and the First District of Kansas.

It is an honor to represent Kansans in the Big First District in the 118th Congress. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger, and I believe our brightest days are yet to come.

Yours in service,

The Week Ahead

I'm excited to host twelve town halls in twelve counties this week as part of my annual 60-county Mann Listening Tour. Since I've been in Congress, I've hosted 148 town halls. I'm grateful for the chance to meet with you and get my marching orders for my time in Congress.

We're starting the week in Reno, McPherson, Saline, Ottawa, Cloud, and Republic counties. On Wednesday, I will be in Dickinson, Clay, Riley, Pottawatomie, Marshall, and Washington counties. I hope to see you there or at a future town hall.

Please join me at one of the town halls listed below or watch out for future town hall dates to see when I'll be in your community.

Happy National FFA Week

Happy National FFA Week! This week, nearly one million FFA members are celebrating by fulfilling their motto – ‘Learning to do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, and Living to Serve.’ They’re leading service activities in their communities, sharing the story of food and agriculture with their classmates, showcasing their supervised agricultural experiences, and expressing their appreciation for our agricultural educators.

As a past chapter FFA officer from Quinter, Kansas, proud FFA alumnus, and founder of the Congressional FFA Caucus, I'm honored to introduce a resolution celebrating National FFA Week. The resolution garnered the support of 101 cosponsors in the House. It was also introduced and adopted in the U.S. Senate. This resolution designates February 17-24, 2024 as National FFA Week, and celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Give the Gift of Blue program which provides FFA jackets to members in need.

To the next generation of leaders who will feed, fuel, and clothe the world, happy National FFA Week!

ICYMI: Rep. Mann joins KWBW Radio, Hutchinson

On Friday, I joined KWBW Radio in Hutchinson to discuss my vote to impeach U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas and the ongoing border crisis. I also discussed my upcoming town halls. Click the video to listen to the conversation.

Impeaching Secretary Mayorkas

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has ignored America’s immigration laws. Since President Biden took office, and under Secretary Mayorkas’ watch, there have been more than 8.3 million illegal border crossings. The reality is that the President and Secretary of Homeland Security do not care about illegal immigration, fentanyl, human trafficking, and the uncontrollable crime flooding across the southern border.

Last week, I voted to impeach Secretary Mayorkas for willfully refusing to comply with America's immigration laws and breaching public trust. These articles of impeachment are the product of a thorough and fair investigation into the historic southern border crisis, and the results prove that Secretary Mayorkas' failed leadership is a direct cause. Secretary Mayorkas has created a national security and humanitarian crisis beyond measure. He must be held accountable. Enough is enough.

Questioning Agriculture Secretary Thomas Vilsack

As chairman of the House Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry, I am concerned with several proposed rules that would impose nonsensical and costly regulations on agricultural producers in the Big First District and across the country. From USDA’s Packers and Stockyards rules which extend well beyond the bounds of congressional intent and ignore legal precedent, to the new USDA-Food Safety and Inspection Service’s salmonella regulatory framework which has left the industry scrambling for answers, my view is that the federal government should support producers or get out of their way.

During last week’s House Agriculture Committee hearing, I questioned U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack about USDA’s plans to mitigate costs weighing on the shoulders of producers, what’s being done to protect the health of producers and consumers, and if USDA will remove overreaching federal rules burdening producers.

Fighting President Biden's War on American Energy

Last week, I voted to unleash American energy production and end the Biden Administration's war on fossil fuels and domestic energy production. President Biden's war on American energy threatens the livelihoods of Americans, jeopardizes our allies' energy security, and compromises our national security.

H.R. 7176, the Unlocking our Domestic LNG Potential Act, will end the misguided policy coming from the White House by lifting the arbitrary pause on LNG exports and removing unelected bureaucrats from the LNG export approval process. My vote sends a strong message that President Biden cannot politicize American energy and our national security.
