Hey John,

Serving in Congress was once a serious job. Even the least-likable members of Congress knew that they had the power to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives and prevent catastrophes at home and abroad.

But Trump loyalists and far-right extremists have turned the job upside down, John. Now experienced lawmakers in both parties are calling it quits on their time in Congress.

As of this week, 23 Republican lawmakers have announced that they will NOT run for re-election. Some have resigned early. Can you blame them?

Morally bankrupt MAGA Republicans like Lauren Boebert do more law-blocking than lawmaking, and Democrats and old-school conservatives are left powerless.

There’s no positive way for Republicans to spin this, John. Our legislative branch is being held hostage by traitors who would rather remain loyal to Trump than protect our democracy.

It’s just one more reason why I’m running to help Democrats take back the House this November – and send Lauren Boebert home to whichever district she moves to next. Your support makes all the difference. ([link removed])

Republicans are already fanning the flames of two crises that could have consequences that last beyond this Congress: a likely government shutdown next month and refusal to protect Ukraine and neighboring countries from Vladimir Putin.

If there are less Democrats and good-faith Republicans to push back against their threats, I can only imagine the dangers 2025 will have in store.

This mass exodus brings two more threats to the table, though. These retirements are leaving seats empty in some of our most important committees. Republicans are leaving eight seats open just on the Energy and Commerce Committee alone.

Those seats could be filled by the same Republicans whose dedication to chaos and inaction have already disabled our government, Republicans like Boebert.

But here’s what worries me most, John.

A lot of the House and Senate seats are being left open by Republicans for a new class of lawmakers. Those seats are in states and districts that lean conservative.

I’ve seen enough to know that the Republicans who win those races will be the ones who oppose LGBTQ people’s rights and women’s right to choose. They’ll be no better than Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene, or Mike Johnson, and they might still have the House majority.

I refuse to let that happen, and I will fight tooth and nail to stop them.
