Keith Ellison is most known for his twelve years serving in Congress. During his congressional career, Ellison was a vice-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and a chief deputy whip. He also sat on the House Committee on Financial Services. Ellison was the first Muslim elected to Congress and the first African American representative from Minnesota.
Keith made recent history, serving his state as the Special Prosecutor in the Derek Chauvin trial, following the death of George Floyd, which garnered national attention. The death of George Floyd sparked a national outcry for change within our justice system.
