This latest ruling in Alabama could have devastating consequences for women across the country who experience infertility and rely on reproductive technology like IVF to conceive.
As someone who struggled with fertility issues, this is personal to me. As a mother of two, my children, Clay and Adrienne, mean the world to me, and when I hear how many women across the country struggle to get pregnant (1 in 5), I feel for them.
That’s why I joined my colleague Senator Tammy Duckworth to introduce legislation to protect the right to access assisted reproductive technologies like IVF.
Rulings like the one in Alabama are precisely why we need legislation at the federal level. Since Roe v. Wade, more and more states have not only sought to restrict abortion access but also restrict individuals’ access to basic reproductive healthcare, including IVF.
The government has no place in an individual’s reproductive decisions. I will continue fighting for expanded protections for reproductive healthcare, but I need your support to keep me in this fight.
Will you contribute to my campaign today to ensure we have what it takes to win re-election in PA-07 and flip the House blue this November?
