Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG)
$2 million available for jurisdictions that aren't eligible for direct federal funding
Washington is providing $2 million in federal funding for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) to help smaller cities and counties plan for future energy conservation and efficiency projects. Jurisdictions can use these funds to work towards meeting state requirements, such as the Clean Buildings Performance Standards or for the Growth Management Act. Commerce will guide grantees to other sources of potential funding for the actual implementation of the projects.
This funding is specifically for cities, counties, and tribal governments that are ineligible for direct EECBG allocations from the U.S. Department of Energy. Cities and counties demonstrating the highest levels of need as shown on the DOE?s Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool, the?Bipartisan Infrastructure Law?s?Justice 40?and Washington?s?HEAL Act priorities will be prioritized.?
We are funding three types of planning projects:
- Working with consultants to develop plans and strategies for energy efficiency and conservation.
- Paying for energy audits that are conducted on commercial and residential buildings.
- Developing public education programs to build public awareness and support energy-saving actions.
