Dear community,
Trans students deserve to display their pride at school. Tennessee’s flag ban bill, SB1722, targets free and open LGBTQ+ expression by restricting the display of all flags in public schools besides the official United States flag and the official Tennessee state flag, including trans flags, pride flags, and Black Lives Matter flags.
All students deserve to learn in a supportive educational environment where their individuality and identity are celebrated, not limited. Rainbow flags, pride flags, and other symbols celebrating LGBTQ+ pride are a protected form of free speech, and it is imperative that we show up in support of students and to mobilize against this bill.
If you can, show up for the hearing about SB1722 before the Senate Education Committee at 3:00 p.m. in Senate Hearing Room 1 and RSVP here.
We must advocate towards the future we want by protecting students’ and teachers’ free speech. Navigating divisive and exclusionary policies should not be the priorities for young people in schools; education and community building should.

Join us by taking action against SB1722 and upholding the values of inclusion and expression.
