Let's work together to break down barriers to accessing resources and support for substance use.

Expanding resources to prevent youth vaping

Millions of youth report using e-cigarettes, with many reporting current and daily use.

Why it matters: Vaping products in flavors and colors that appeal to youth are widely available and easy to access. Youth are particularly vulnerable to addiction and harm from the nicotine in such products.

Currently, e-cigarette manufacturers do not have to pay the same fees to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that makers of other tobacco products do.

The bottom line: The Resources to Prevent Youth Vaping Act would require e-cigarette manufacturers to pay user fees, providing additional resources for safety reviews, prevention of sales to minors, education for youth about the dangers of e-cigarettes, and increased oversight and enforcement.

How you can help: Send a letter to your senators encouraging them to cosponsor the Resources to Prevent Youth Vaping Act to help protect youth from the harms of vaping.

Breaking the stigma

There are many barriers that prevent people from getting help with substance use and addiction. One in particular leads people to suffer in solitude: Stigma

- There is a misperception that addiction is an individual’s fault, rather than a disease.
- Substance use stigma is a barrier to getting resources and support, especially for those in marginalized communities.

How you can help: Learn more about substance use stigma in our newest social post (links below) and share with your community to raise awareness:
