Dear John,

The best way to predict the future is to invent it. The United States have played, and continue to play, an outsized role in innovation. Yet, where once America also led the way in educational innovations like the creation of a system of universal high schools, for far too long we have been content merely to applaud and protect those accomplishments instead of continually aiming for better.

The good news is that, in communities across the country, complacency is giving way to invention and the future of American education is coming into focus.

In our 2023 CANnual Report ([link removed]) , we look at the ways in which our nationwide network of advocates, communicators, builders and electoral leaders expanded inventions, gave more children access through laws and budgets and crafted new services to inform the public and meet the immediate needs of our children.

The 2023 CANnual Report highlights our progress in each of these workstreams, including the hundreds of new advocates we trained, the more than 380 media hits we secured in newspapers and television screens around the country and the thousands of children–17% of America's youth and rising–served by our programs.

This progress is only possible because of the support and partnership of those walking the road alongside us.
