There are a whopping 520,000 elected offices in the USofA— and Democrats aren’t competing in up to 75% of those races. That means that every year, thousands of MAGA freaks win just for the bare minimum of showing up.
Until now. *Drumroll pls*.
Since 2018, our friends at Contest Every Race have recruited over 7,000 Democrats to run in local races – from school board to city council, and more. And their work doesn’t stop once the candidate files - they provide those candidates volunteers, funding, and help turn out new voters on Election Day.
Today, we’re boosting the gr8 work CER does as they attempt to raise an additional $20,000 this month. For every $2,000 they raise, they’ll be able to recruit a Democrat to run for local office and build their organizing infrastructure.
It’s simple: when fair elections, abortion access, gun reform and a habitable planet are at stake, we can’t leave races uncontested.
That’s why CER’s 2024 plan is to quadruple their organizing work in seven battlegrounds (v v important states like Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and North Carolina).
