ACCESS, in partnership with The Wayne State University Physician Group and Wayne State University Health Sciences, is making an urgent request for donations of medical supplies to support its COVID-19 drive-through testing for first responders and health care workers who are symptomatic. As the demand for testing increases, we are in urgent need of medical supplies to ensure the safety of our staff and volunteers who are working hard to assist those protecting our community.
A list of most needed items can be found below. To coordinate a donation drop-off, please contact Rachid Elabed at 734-652-3303.
Most-Needed Medical Supplies Include:
- N95 masks for swabbers (medium/large size)
- Masks (regular surgical masks are fine)
- Specimen bags
- Swabs/test kits (either UVTs or GC/Chlamydia [Penile/Endocervical] PCR Aptima swabs)
- Gowns (long-sleeved, up to the collarbone, with a cuffed wrist and length that hits below the waistline)
- Gloves (medium/large sizes, non-latex)
- Hand sanitizer (60% alcohol and above)
- Clorox/Lysol wipes or sprays, plus towels if wipes not available. Needed for disinfecting supplies after testing.
Testing is taking place five days a week from 1 to 6 p.m. on the following schedule through the end of March, and may be extended based on community need and medical supply availability. Any medical supplies deemed no longer required for testing will be donated to local hospitals.
