John,

On Friday of last week, news broke that Vladimir Putin had murdered Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. That news sent a shockwave throughout the world and prompted world leaders to respond.

Putin is a murderous dictator who loathes dissent, free speech and true democracy. Though his regime killed Navalny, they won’t be able to quash his legacy. His life and his work gave hope and voice to millions of Russians who are tired of Putin -- people who are ready to fight for change.

But since the war in Ukraine started, there has been a rapidly growing faction of the Republican Party that idolizes Putin. In fact, the Russian President appears to have a real grip on what now seems like a significant portion of MAGA Republicans. It’s strange and it’s scary, John.

That’s why today, in the wake of this news, I’m asking you to make a contribution to Serve America -- an organization dedicated to electing a new generation of Democratic leaders to Congress. I can assure you, they believe in democracies, side with America, and know better than to idolize Vladimir Putin.

In his final message to the world, Navalny reminded us that "the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil, is for good people to do nothing."

This is an election year. Trump, who leads the Republican Party and will likely be on the ballot in November, has openly fawned over Putin. He’s repeatedly shared his admiration of him and many in his party are now following his lead.

We cannot afford to do nothing. We have to fight this year and every year to elect leaders who love America and work to improve our democracy -- not break it.

Navalny had what Putin will never have: courage, true patriotism, soul.

Let’s honor him by continuing to fight.

-Seth
