  • Remote Legal Support: Learn from the Experts (upcoming webinar)
    This webinar is based on our new manual, Remote Legal Support: A Guide for Nonprofit and Pro Bono Innovation. Join us Thursday, April 2nd at 2:00 pm Eastern to learn about technology-based approaches to providing offsite legal services. This webinar will take a closer look at three successful RLS projects and discuss logistics, challenges, and best practices for connecting to underserved and rural communities. The panelists are Carolyn Kim, Esq./Project Director, Asian Americans Advancing Justice - LA; Kallie Dale-Ramos, Attorney, Montana Health Justice Partnership, Montana Legal Services Association; and, Cindy Woods, Staff Attorney, Family Detention Project, Texas RioGrande Legal Aid.   • Citizenshipworks Basics (newly recorded webinar)
    New to Citizenshipworks or need a refresher training? This recorded session offers an overview of basic how-tos on the platform. The webinar walks through the applicant and advocate experiences, including N-400 completion and editing. This training is required for new Citizenshipworks partners.   • How to Refer Applicants to Citizenshipworks Virtual Legal Review Projects (newly recorded webinar)
    If you don’t have the capacity to offer legal citizenship assistance, there are several New Americans Campaign partners who can provide free virtual (remote) legal review for Citizenshipworks users anywhere in the country: Advancing Justice-Los Angeles, GMHC in New York, BPSOS-Houston, and IRC-Atlanta.   • Using immi.org for Screening and Intake (sign up)
    Immigration programs are using immi Connect for remote legal services. Immi's quiz helps identify immigration options, based on the client's unique immigration history. Immi Connect gives legal partners a comprehensive view of the client's answers to the online screening interview. Clients can use immi on any phone or computer. Trainings on Law and Advocacy 

Humanitarian Asylum: Are You Forgetting to Make this Essential Claim for Your Asylum Seeker Client? (upcoming webinar)

Join us Tuesday, April 7, at 2:00 pm Eastern, for an overview of both kinds of humanitarian asylum, and a deeper dive into best practices for presenting these claims before the asylum office and Immigration Court. The panelist is Alison Griffith, Staff Attorney, Refugee and Immigrant Program, The Advocates for Human Rights. Register here.


Responding to In-Custody Tragedies Effectively and Responsibly (upcoming webinar)

Join us Thursday, April 9, at 2:00 pm Eastern, for an adaptive rapid response template for attorneys and advocates to address an in-custody death; and an overview of the investigative steps DHS and relevant state and local authorities will follow. The presentation includes resources for affected family members, community members, and loved ones; movement-minded, human-centered organizing and messaging; and, a trauma-informed primer on how to communicate with the family members and loved ones. The panelists are R. Andrew Free, immigration and civil rights attorney, representing detained immigrants suing private prison corporations, and leading the #DetentionKills Network; and, Karina Kelly immigration paralegal who is also the sister of Jean Jimenez, who died in ICE custody.
