URGENT RESPONSE NEEDED: Do you think Congress should ban assault weapons? [[link removed]]
YES [[link removed]]
NO [[link removed]]
Friend,
For too long, the gun lobby has tried to make us believe the lie that "the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," but if guns made us safer, then our country would be the safest in the world.
For every 100 people living in the United States, there are about 120 civilian firearms. That's right, friend, in our country, guns outnumber people.
And this exorbitant amount of guns does not make us safer, in fact, Americans kill each other at 25 times the rate of other high-income countries.
More guns won't make us safer – but what is proven to save lives is banning assault weapons, firearms designed to kill as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.
For the 10 years that a ban was in effect, deaths caused by assault rifles were notably reduced, but the NRA made sure the ban ended and mass shootings skyrocketed .
We’ve pleaded with Congress to do something to address our gun violence epidemic, but they continue to fail us. Reinstating this lifesaving ban could not be more critical after multiple, record-breaking years of deadly gun violence.
It's time for our lawmakers to stand up to the gun lobby and take action to make us all safer. Friend, we need to make it absolutely clear to our lawmakers: Take these deadly weapons off the street.
Can you help us show Congress that the majority of Americans support banning weapons of war? Right now, we need 214 more responses to this urgent survey before 11:59 p.m. –– but we just checked our records, and it looks like we haven't heard from you yet. [[link removed]]
