More than 765K Michigan voters have already cast ballots in the Presidential Primary one week before Election Day
Over 18,000 votes cast in first three days of in-person early voting statewide
LANSING, Mich. ? Over 765,000 Michigan voters have cast a ballot in the state?s Presidential Primary with one week to go before Election Day, Feb. 27. Of those, more than 18,000 voters turned out for the first three days of in-person early voting over the Presidents Day holiday weekend and over 747,000 voters have submitted their absentee ballot to be counted in the primary.

This is the first statewide election with a constitutionally guaranteed minimum of nine days of in-person early voting as approved by Michigan voters in 2022 under Proposal 2. A total of 18,317 voters cast a ballot at an early voting site in the first three days of operation: ?

A breakdown of in-person early votes by jurisdiction for Feb. 17-19 is available online. While votes are reported by jurisdiction, many jurisdictions are not operating their own early voting sites. Municipalities have the option to operate early voting through their county or in partnership with other municipalities. The Michigan Department of State will release statewide in-person early voting site totals daily via social media and a final breakdown by jurisdiction on Monday, Feb. 26.

One week before Election Day, 747,534 voters have completed their absentee ballot and submitted it to be tabulated. More than 1.3 million Michigan voters have requested absentee ballots for this election ? a nearly 60% increase over the week before Election Day in the 2020 Presidential Primary. Voters who have received but not yet returned their absentee ballot should hand deliver it to an official ballot drop box, their clerk?s office, or early voting site in their jurisdiction. Mailing ballots this close to Election Day is not recommended. All absentee ballots must be received at clerk?s offices or drop boxes by 8 p.m. on Election Day or they will not be counted.
