[[link removed]] John,

We know many communities and small plant-based businesses are struggling during
this extraordinarily challenging time. Mercy For Animals cares about communities
in need, believes in spreading hope and compassion through plant-based food, and
loves amazing plant-based restaurants and their employees.

That’s why we’re bringing Plants to the People
[[link removed]] by partnering with hunger relief efforts and plant-based restaurants to feed
communities in need.

New York City is sadly becoming an epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic, with over
15,500 confirmed cases. As much of the city has shut down, and countless
citizens are now out of work, thousands of people are in desperate need of
healthy meals. Meanwhile, plant-based restaurants face unprecedented economic
challenges. At the same time, they are eager to continue serving their
communities and spreading compassion during this time of crisis.

That’s why, this past weekend, Mercy For Animals donated 2,000 plant-based meals
[[link removed]] to people experiencing food insecurity in Brooklyn and Long Island in a
partnership with Community Solidarity [[link removed]] , America’s largest vegetarian hunger relief organization. The healthy,
nutrient-dense meals came from nine restaurants: Bar Velo, Brooklyn Whiskers,
Urban Vegan Kitchen, Blossom du Jour, Screamer's Pizzeria, Champs Diner, VSPOT,
Monk’s Meats, and by CHLOE.

We’d love to keep this program going, but we need your help!

Will you pitch in to help us continue this work to lift up our beloved
communities—and to support all our work to create a compassionate food system?

Plants to the People is an extension of Mercy For Animals’ long-standing work to
increase market share of plant-based foods and provide healthy plant-based meals
to communities, as we have done through our food policy program for several
years. During the COVID-19 crisis, Plants to the People is our effort to fulfill
the spirit of our mission, help communities in a tangible way, and showcase the
need to build a collaborative plant-based economy.

If you’d like to help us expand Plants to the People and continue our other vital work to protect farmed animals and create a
healthier, more sustainable, more ethical food system, please make a donation today
[[link removed]] .

Your kindness means everything to us and the animals—and it will mean so much to
communities in need. Thank you, as always, for your generosity! Together, we
will get through this crisis. And no matter the challenges we face, we will
never, ever stop fighting to build a more compassionate world for all. With love and hope, Leah Garcés
