We can slow the tipping scales of income inequality, but we need Congressional intervention. The U.S. poverty rate has had its most significant one-year increase–and that rise is the largest level in 50 years. On the other end of the spectrum, the world could soon see its first trillionaire.

As the wealth gap widens, the wealthiest continue to benefit from unlimited secret spending in elections to ensure their wealth continues to increase. It’s a dangerous cycle that must be addressed by our elected officials.

It’s time those we elect work for us, not the ultra-wealthy! We must demand Congress address the issue of poverty and the wealth gap in this country by taking the power away from greedy corporations and billionaires.

The disparity between the ultra-wealthy and everyone else is growing at an alarming rate. Since 2020, the wealth and assets of the five richest men in the world more than doubled, increasing at a staggering rate of $14 million per hour. The top 1% now has nearly twice as much wealth as the rest of the world put together. Meanwhile, 5 billion people globally are becoming poorer.

Billionaires and corporations are using their immense wealth and influence to shape policies in their favor, often at the expense of the working majority. They avoid taxes, undermine labor laws, and weaken environmental protections, exacerbating inequality and leaving millions struggling for basic needs.

A wealth tax on multi-millionaires and billionaires could generate $1.7 trillion annually. This wealth can be redirected to vital public services, infrastructure, and climate initiatives–benefiting everyone, not just the elite few.

It's time President Biden and Congress address this deepening inequality crisis. We demand fair taxation of the ultra-wealthy, stronger regulations to prevent corporate exploitation, and significant investment in public services that benefit all, not just a privileged few.
