Towards the end of this email, I'm going to ask you to make your first contribution — of $5 or any amount you can — to support our campaign. But before I do, I want to tell you why that support is so important, especially now.

Since our first campaign for the U.S. Senate in 2016, I have been working day-in and day-out alongside my colleagues to pass impactful legislation that provides long-overdue support to working families in Illinois and across the country.

Passing major legislation like the The American Rescue Plan in response to the pandemic or the largest federal infrastructure investment in decades–which included my bill to help finally get the lead out of our children’s drinking water–likely wouldn’t have been possible without our Democratic Senate majority.

But because that majority is so slim, the reality is that losing even one seat this November could spell disaster for all the progress we've made over the past number of years.

The importance of coming together once again to defend our majority, take back the House and keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office cannot be overstated.

This is no easy task, and we won’t be able to do it without the grassroots support of lots and lots of people like you all across the country.

So please:

Can you make your first contribution — of $5 or any amount you can afford — to our campaign today? I wouldn't be asking if it weren't so important to our efforts defending all the progress we've made together.
