Dear Friends,
We sincerely hope this email finds you safe and healthy. Amid the current health concerns regarding the COVID-19 global outbreak, we at Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC are continually committed to protecting the civil and human rights of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.
One result of this pandemic is that our nation is witnessing a sharp spike in racism and xenophobic attacks targeting Asians. No amount of fear can excuse prejudice and discrimination against Asian Americans. To combat this problem during this ever-evolving COVID-19 global outbreak, Advancing Justice | AAJC is working with the media, coordinating with AAPI organizations and partners in communities of color, and providing informational resources for advocates and the community. We offer facts, not fear, through the resources highlighted on our COVID-19 webpage at advancingjustice-aajc.org/covid19. ([link removed])
In this time of uncertainty, we are thankful for your trust and support. With the 2020 Census in full swing, we’ve been working around the clock on outreach in and education of our communities nationwide about the importance of being counted. We have provided in-language resources in 23 languages as well as a specific Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander section on our census website. You can visit CountUsIn2020.org ([link removed]) for the most updated information on the power of being counted.
Keeping families together is a cornerstone of our work. We continue to stand up for immigrants, their families and family unification through our #ValueOurFamilies campaign. We also advocate to keep the naturalization process accessible. To address and meet the needs of our more vulnerable families for information during this digital age, Advancing Justice | AAJC commits to bridging the digital divide; we continue to lead efforts on telecommunication and technology issues that affect these families and individuals.
Ever more critical to our community is having full access to the ballot box and having a voice in our elections. We continue to fight discrimination against Asian American voters by supporting the creation, enforcement, and protection of strong laws to ensure equal access to the political and democratic process for Asian Americans.
And finally, following the success of the citizenship question case, we continue to ramp up our litigation efforts in cases impacting our communities and to strengthen the capacity and voices of our community partners nationwide.
Thanks to you, Advancing Justice | AAJC strives to be trusted stewards of your support and to advance our mission. Current updates on our work impacting communities can be found at www.advancingjustice-aajc.org. We are ever so grateful. Please stay safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
John C Yang Signature
