Last week I voted for H.R. 3202, the Assad Regime Anti-Normalization Act of 2023, a bipartisan bill that I co-lead. If enacted, this bill will hold Bashar al-Assad's barbaric regime accountable for their human rights abuses against the people of Syria.

During a House Financial Services Committee hearing, I questioned officials of the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crime Enforcement Network (FinCEN) about what is being done to ensure Mexican drug cartels are not using remittances as an avenue for illicit activities. 

After months of negotiations, the Senate released their long-anticipated bipartisan border security package. However, Speaker Johnson and House Republicans killed the bill before we could review text. We need solutions, not political theatrics. That is why I went on Fox News and publicly committed to supporting bipartisan solutions at the border You may watch my full interview here.  

This year’s Valentines for Vets program was a success! We were able to collect hundreds of Valentines from schools across South Texas to distribute to our local veterans. I want to thank all those who participated. Our veterans were touched by such kind gestures.  

I joined Members of Congress in sending a letter to President Biden urging him to reconsider the Administration’s pause on Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) export permits. LNG exports hold significant benefits for the U.S. economy, energy security, and job market.  You can read the full letter here.
