Pregnant women in Gaza are being forced to give birth in extremely dire circumstances.

With only 16 out of Gaza’s 36 hospitals functional right now, pregnant women in Gaza are at high risk. Closed maternity units force pregnant women to travel dangerous distances just to find maternal health care — leading to a spike in miscarriages.

Those who do give birth are often rushed out of overcrowded hospitals to make space for other pregnant women. One hospital shut down after women who had just undergone C-section surgeries were evacuated in the middle of the night.

Without humanitarian support, childbirth can be a death sentence for mothers and newborns in Gaza.

But thanks to generous donations from people like you, we’ve delivered resources to support more than half the 21,000 births that have taken place since October 2023.
