Hip hop is not just music. It's not just an art form. It’s a culture with a multi-billion-dollar economy. It’s a movement.
But we haven't yet harnessed its power to make transformative changes in legislation. That’s why I just launched the Hip Hop Task Force to bring the culture to Congress.
Hip Hop has always been about ending poverty in America. It’s always been about fully funding our public schools and affordable housing. It’s always been about justice reform and police reform.
My goal is for artists to continually be talking to lawmakers about what’s happening in their communities so lawmakers can better understand the most marginalized, neglected places in our country.
