, carried by Senator Kelly Morrsion (Rep. Frazier in the House) gives 99 percent of Minnesota local jurisdictions (cities, counties, school districts) the power to adopt RCV for local elections if they choose! This is an essential measure to level the playing field for all local jurisdictions, give them the freedom to adopt RCV if they wish, and experience the cost-saving, higher turnout, and more inclusive election benefits other RCV cities have!
The bill also provides essential standards for local use of RCV, making the implementation process easier, and allows state certification of RCV voting equipment and tabulation systems, allowing for faster election results.
In cities that use RCV, turnout is higher, voters like it, and find it easy to use. It’s time to give all local jurisdictions the power to decide for themselves if ranked choice voting is best for them.
