My nephew didn't survive the Parkland school shooting -- it broke my heart and shattered our lives forever.
But I want to tell you about two students who did survive, and why my team is working every day to make sure this never happens to them -- or anyone else -- again:
I’m fighting for Sam Grady, a survivor of the devastating Parkland shooting six years.
She was just sitting in history class on a day that seemed like any other, until a gunman with an assault weapon started shooting into her classroom.
Sam’s best friend Helena was shielding her when a bullet hit and killed Helena.
Sam was shot twice. One bullet ricocheted off her chest, and another grazed the right side of her torso.
She survived, but almost a quarter of her class didn’t.
No one should ever have to go through what Sam did. But unfortunately, in the six years since nothing has changed and the long list of gun violence survivors keeps growing. It’s stories like Sam’s that inspired us to start this organization and fuel us every day to work to end gun violence and stop the endless bloodshed in our country. But we can’t do it alone. We need to raise $2,300 before midnight to fully fund our mission to ban assault weapons, beat back the gun lobby’s massive cash advantage, and make sure this never happens again. Will you rush $15? Each and every contribution goes to electing gun safety champions from coast to coast who will work to pass an assault weapons ban and protect our communities. >>
And I’m fighting for Brooke Harrison, a survivor of the horrific Parkland shooting.
That tragic day started off as a day of love. Her friends gave each other heart-shaped chocolates and teddy bears to celebrate.
But everything changed in an instant.
Brooke was finishing up an essay in English class when she heard it: BANG! BANG! BANG!
She scrambled to find cover and tried not to panic as she moved to the front of her teacher’s desk.
One of her best friends, Alaina Petty, was behind her, hiding behind the desk. She didn't make it.
Ban Assault Weapons NOW is working tirelessly to ensure survivors like Brooke never have to watch their best friends die in front of them again. And that’s why we’re doing everything in our power to make sure no one ever has to feel the unimaginable heartbreak of losing a loved one to gun violence again. Can you spare $15 to stand with us, help us fund this organization’s critical work to end gun violence, and help us honor those who survived these unspeakable, preventable horrors? The more you donate, the more we give to gun-sense candidates. >>
Thank you,
Gail Schwartz

BAWN is committed to replacing every cowardly and complacent lawmaker, regardless of party, that denies your right to live without fear of being shot. Legislators that support the deadly proliferation of guns, instead of common sense gun safety measures, are responsible for the carnage of gun violence -- and must be voted out.
BAWN also lobbies legislators to support the assault weapon and large capacity magazine ban bills that will help put an end to the slaughter of innocent Americans.
But they can’t do this alone. BAWN is relying on your support to kick every coward who refuses to protect our children and families OUT of office. Will you chip in right away?
