2) OMG! This Explains EVERYTHING
"I've never been gainfully employed in my life… You know, I mean, I've never cashed a paycheck in my entire life. You think I’m joking. I'm not."

Joe Biden quoted in the Washington Post, February 4. What’s doubly alarming is that Biden was actually boasting when he said this.

3) Memo to House Republicans: No Government Shutdown
These two headlines are accurate and concerning.

Fox News:

And this from Yahoo Finance:

[link removed]
If a spending bill isn’t passed in the House by March 1, several departments will shut down and that will be followed by most other agency closures by March 8.

Question: are Republicans with their razor-tight two-seat majority TRYING to lose control of Congress in November?

A shutdown will play into the hands of Democrats who argue that Trump and the House Republicans are the party of chaos.

House Speaker Mike Johnson’s brief speakership is in jeopardy because he has agreed not to pass budget bills with Democratic votes. Earth to House Republicans!

You have no choice because at least five to 10 Republicans won’t vote for any bill that keeps the government operating.

The only route to 218 ayes is with at least a handful of Democrat votes. But that could mean a vote to “vacate the chair” – an instant replay of the GOP foolishness in removing Kevin McCarthy from the speakership last year.

The only winner from this intra-party melee is Joe Biden.

Instead, The House could pass a continuing resolution for the rest of the fiscal year that funds programs at last year's level with a one percent across-the-board cut in spending. This is the automatic spending sequester known as the "Massie Rule", named after Rep Thomas Massie of Kentucky, and was agreed to as part of last year’s budget deal

As the chart below shows, federal spending is higher than ever before in peacetime. We should be chainsawing agency funding by 10 to 20%. But a small cut is better than mayhem and a symbolic shutdown that is likely to backfire.

Federal Spending Is a National Virus: Outlays As Share of GDP at All-Time High

4) Javier Milei Balanced the Budget in His First Month
If a balanced budget in Washington seems like a pipe dream, take a look at what’s happening in Argentina. Leadership matters.

5) Political Scientists Rank Trump as the Worst President Ever and Biden as an Above Average President
Last year we glumly noted that academics’ ratings of presidents say much more about the leftist bent of university professors than the performance of the men who have occupied the White House.

This year’s ratings of the members of the American Political Science Association is one of the most divorced from reality yet.

The top 5 are no surprise (although our own poll of conservative leaders ([link removed]) ranked FDR as one of the most overrated presidents.
1. Abraham Lincoln
2. Franklin Delano Roosevelt
3. George Washington
4. Teddy Roosevelt
5. Thomas Jefferson

It's after that the wheels come off.

Joe Biden — who is arguably the worst president in American history — was ranked 14th BEST overall out of 46 presidents, primarily because of his ability to compromise (when?), great court appointments (!), and integrity (!!!!!). What planet are these scholars even orbiting? To our astonishment, Barack Obama is ranked as the 7th best president, Bill Clinton clocks in at 12th and even Jimmy Carter is in 22nd place. Obama and Clinton ranked HIGHER than the man who won the Cold War, defeated the Evil Empire, and launched one of the greatest American economic revivals of all time – Ronald Reagan.

Here’s the list of the bottom 5:
* William Henry Harrison
* Franklin Pierce
* Andrew Johnson
* James Buchanan
* Donald Trump

That’s right, the almost certain Republican nominee in 2024 is regarded — in this survey at least — as the single WORST president in history.

All of this is beyond preposterous and the only grade we can give this work product of these blinkered scholars is a simple one: F.
