Glenn Youngkin, the governor of Virginia, just proposed a drastic reduction in funding for Richmond Public Schools. Education funding cuts aren’t limited to Richmond — Youngkin’s proposal is just the latest in a concerning trend that shows our leaders don’t see our children's education as a priority.

School districts, students, and educators are still grappling with the impacts of the pandemic and lost time in the classroom. Millions of students rely on the essential services provided at school. Mental health support, meal programs, resources for diverse learners, and programs for disabled students are at risk of being cut.

Investing in education is vital to setting the next generations of our country up for success. Dramatically cutting education funding is unacceptable. In fact, it should be increased not cut!
