Doorways' Latest Report Highlights Comprehensive Response to Increasing Need for Shelter and Services

Doorways is grateful for every one of our incredible supporters who make our mission possible every day. Thank you for giving safe harbor, healing, and hope.

As Arlington's only fully and dually state-accredited agency serving survivors of domestic and sexual violence, Doorways offers a wide range of crisis response services and comprehensive shelter and housing programs designed to meet survivors' needs.

"Fulfilling this promise has never been more pressing," writes Diana Ortiz, M.Ed., LPC, Doorways' President and CEO, in our 2023 report. "Only five years ago, Doorways' Safehouse sheltered 58 survivors. Last year alone, that number was 135 survivors—more than double the total in 2018."

"Our community's needs are increasing and changing rapidly," Diana continues. "Survivors told us what they need. Doorways listened. We are responding by reinventing ourselves."

Action Alert: Survey

Survey on Masculinity

With the rising conversations on the state of men and boys and clear data that shows categories in which they are falling behind, there is reason to ask how this is showing up in Arlington and how can we respond. Project PEACE has launched an initiative called Arlington Transforming Masculinity (ATM) to imagine ways in which we can increase the wellbeing of men and boys.

The first step is getting a better sense of what men and boys are experiencing. We are asking people in the Arlington Community to fill out this quick survey to help shape the direction of this work. Several participants will win a $15-$30 gift card in appreciation for their time. We welcome all ages, and the survey is available in four languages: English, Spanish, Amharic and Mongolian. Thank you for your input!
