I have always believed that true public service requires showing up and working with people to solve problems.

When I heard the news that Lynn Peterson was dropping out of the race for Oregon’s 5th District, my first thought was of how many places I had seen her in the district, showing up to connect with voters about the issues they care about. I respect that. I also respect that she has made a career of public service.

While I look forward to connecting with her in the future, we need to keep our focus on flipping this seat. We must flip the House AND elect a Democrat that focuses on working people, our environment, and our fundamental rights -- and that won’t happen with a corporate Democrat selected by DC insiders who are trying to buy this seat.

With Lynn’s departure, I am the only pro-Labor and pro-environment candidate in this race. And our grassroots team throughout the district is conveying this message to voters.
