While most Americans are now fighting hard for a sense of normalcy, Republicans are using this moment to strip rights away from patients and doctors.

The New York Times just reported that Texas and Ohio have deemed abortion "nonessential" in blatant defiance of the recommendation of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. That means rogue Republican governors have run afoul of the Supreme Court, the medical community, and common decency, and have used a time of crisis to eliminate a woman's right to choose.

To prove this point beyond a doubt, Governor Abbott in Texas said that stiff penalties are on the table for any doctor that does perform abortion services, including a $1,000 fine or 180 days in jail. That's the Republican response to a humanitarian catastrophe: make women second-class citizens and throw doctors in jail.

The Republicans have staked their claim. Time to stake ours. An instantaneous response is the only thing that can stop this brazen and opportunistic attack against crucial healthcare services, which is why we need you.
