People For the American Way

Friend,

As we celebrate President's Day, it is a time to reflect on the principles that our nation holds dear and the qualities we expect in our leaders.

The threat of former President Trump’s re-election looms large, casting a shadow over the progress we've fought so hard to achieve. Now, more than ever, we must unite to prevent the return of Trump’s divisive leadership that has damaged the very fabric of our society and endangered the future of our nation.

By making a monthly commitment to support our work, you can play a pivotal role in ensuring that the mistakes of the past are not repeated. Your sustained support is the best way to ensure that we are able to invest strategically in key battleground states, continue our efforts to expose and disrupt the Far Right, and fight to defend and strengthen our democracy from right-wing attempts to undermine it.

Join our Defenders of Democracy program today by making a monthly contribution to People For during this crucial election year. >>

The threats posed by a potential Trump reelection are grave and numerous. During his time in office, we witnessed a relentless assault on democratic norms and institutions, from attacks on the free press to attempts to undermine the integrity of our elections. And as he campaigns for president yet again, statements and actions from Trump and his campaign indicate he is plotting an even more extreme and dangerous second term:

  • Trump continues to peddle lies about the 2020 election, spreading baseless claims of voter fraud and refusing to accept the legitimacy of the outcome – already laying the groundwork to challenge his potential electoral defeat.
  • Trump refuses to say whether he’d abuse his power, declaring in a Fox News townhall that he would “only be a dictator on day one.”
  • Trump continues to enable foreign rivals, recently encouraging Russian President Vladmir Putin to attack our NATO allies if they aren’t contributing enough to the alliance; saying that the United States wouldn’t come to their defense.
  • Trump has expressed support for a nationwide abortion ban; further appeasing his MAGA base by restricting reproductive freedom after a Supreme Court stacked with far-right justices he nominated struck down Roe v. Wade.
  • Trump has vowed to prosecute his political rivals over unfounded allegations and as retribution for the ongoing criminal proceedings against him.
  • Trump and his allies continue to plot their efforts to dismantle and reshape federal agencies in order to advance a radically conservative vision for the country through Project 2025, a presidential transition project spearheaded by the notoriously conservative think tank, The Heritage Foundation.
  • And the list goes on...

By making a monthly contribution today, you can play a vital role in preventing a Trump reelection and protecting our democracy – and nation – for future generations. Your support will enable us to mobilize resources, organize grassroots efforts, and engage in strategic advocacy to counter the dangerous rhetoric and policies of Trump and his MAGA Republican allies.

With so much at stake in this year’s election, please begin a monthly contribution by joining our “Defenders of Democracy” program to ensure that we have the resources necessary to prevent Trump from retaking the White House this November. >>

This President's Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to the principles of democracy and justice that have guided our nation for centuries. Together, we can ensure that the dark chapter of the Trump administration remains firmly in the past and that we move forward toward a brighter, more inclusive future for all Americans.

Thank you for your support.
