Happy President's Day, friend! This day is about celebrating all of our country's commanders in chief, and I want to take a moment to share a bit about someone I’ve always admired, a man whose legacy inspires my work every day: President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
FDR took office during the height of the Great Depression, one of our nation's most challenging moments – and he pulled us through it with progressive policies that put workers and families first. From creating Social Security to advocating for workers’ rights to unionize and bargain without retaliation, his policies are still being felt today.
But if there's one thing to learn from his legacy, it's that our work is far from over. There are still a lot of politicians out there (including my GOP opponents) who will choose big banks and corporations over working families every chance they get. Who want to gut critical programs like Social Security. That's why I'm fighting every day in the Senate for the Dignity of Work, but I need your help.
Here's the deal, friend: I'm facing my toughest reelection battle yet, and if we lose here in Ohio, we could lose our Senate majority and all hope of future progress. That's why megadonors just poured $350,000 into my Trump-backed opponent's campaign, and why Mitch McConnell's super PACs just made their largest reservation in a single state ever to defeat me.
So please, friend, I'm asking you to join me in this fight: Will you chip in $5 or more – any amount you can spare today – to help me keep up our fight for the Dignity of Work? Every dollar gets us closer to winning in Ohio and keeping the Senate blue.
Thank you so much for being in this fight with me!
