Dear John,
As we celebrate Presidents’ Day, we are reminded of the remarkable legacies of two of America’s most revered leaders: George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Originally established to commemorate George Washington’s birthday, this holiday has evolved into a time to honor both Washington’s and Lincoln’s contributions to our nation.
Washington and Lincoln each faced extraordinary challenges during their presidencies, ones that shaped the course of American history. Washington offered leadership in forming the democracy we know today, while Lincoln helped our nation navigate the tumultuous Civil War period.
In this time of political division, let’s remember the leadership and vision of these remarkable leaders. Despite their differing circumstances, these presidents sought to uphold the ideals of freedom, unity, and democracy. As we enjoy this holiday, let’s also reflect on what unites us as a nation and strive to uphold those values.
Thank you, and best wishes for a terrific Presidents’ Day.
