A whole year of fishing adventure is ahead of you. Plan a great fishing trip using the 2024 Fishing Guide [ [link removed] ] and 2024 Fishing Forecast [ [link removed] ]. Both publications are now available in print wherever fishing permits are sold; they can also be found online.

The Fishing Guide sums up Nebraska's fishing rules and regulations, and the Fishing Forecast shows the best fishing spots for various species across the state, based on 2023 lake sampling. Check it out now!

Archery paddlefish applications to be accepted March 1-14

Interested in archery paddlefish season? It's almost time to apply: Nebraska Game and Parks will accept permit applications March 1-14, starting at 1 p.m. Central time.

Postal mail applications must be received in Game and Parks? Lincoln office by 5 p.m. CST and online applications by 11:59 p.m. March 14.

Permits will be issued in a random drawing based on preference points earned. Learn more at the link below.

Game and Parks to host fly-tying workshops in March

This spring, you could be catching trout and panfish using flies you made yourself. Join us for fly-tying workshops in March.

Held at Schramm Education Center and Turpin Outdoor Education Center, the workshops will help you learn the basics of fly-tying. Both new and experienced fly tiers are welcome.

Become a youth fishing instructor

If you love to fish and want to share this passion with the next generation, now's your chance. Sign up to become a youth fishing instructor.

Nebraska Game and Parks will certify youth fishing instructors at workshops across the state in the coming months. Participants will receive training and tools to conduct youth fishing clinics, and will have access to loaner fishing equipment and educational materials for events.

Nebraska Fish Art Contest open for entries

Kids can learn about fish while highlighting their artistic talents through the Nebraska Fish Art Contest, which is accepting entries through Feb. 28, 2024.

It is open to students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The contest is free to enter and includes both an art and writing component. Tell your friends!
