Dear Jack,

This week is a milestone for our movement. In February 1969, 55 years ago, the idea to create Survival International was born after the UK’s Sunday Times exposed horrific abuse and genocide of Indigenous peoples in Brazil.

Since then, Survival hasn’t just been an organization, but a movement. Supporters like you have formed the backbone of our campaigning for Indigenous rights – by lending your voices to send out letters, faxes and emails; by protesting outside embassies and company headquarters; by boycotting, badgering, standing up and speaking out.

To commemorate our founding and your activism, we’re starting Act For Survival, our week of community and supporter action for Indigenous rights.

This week, we’ll be sharing stories of activism, and asking you to join our campaigns with Indigenous people, and to spread information about Survival's work. To kick things off, we are asking you to “lend a hand” – and use your creativity – in spreading awareness of the week and of our movement.

Here’s how to lend us a hand:

1. Take a look at our logo

2. Recreate it in any way you want: sprayed on a wall, bodypaint, handprints, collage, etc.

3. Let us know and share it with your friends on social media using #ActForSurvival hashtag, including a message of support for Indigenous rights
