Suddenly Schooling? We Can Help

What to Know: Heaven help us, more and more of us are teaching our kids at home now, as COVID-19 closes schools.

The TPPF Take: We’re all home schoolers now (thank for the tips, Heritage Foundation!).

“Every Texas student is a remote learner now,” says TPPF’s Emily Sass. “This is a wakeup call to consider the resilience and adaptability of our education system. Education professionals across the state have been working tirelessly to respond to the needs of students: it's past time for Texas to pull some outdated barriers out of their way.

Community

What to Know: Americans are finding ways to come together to get through the coronavirus pandemic.

The TPPF Take: This is a reminder that we rely on each other.

“Our greatest strength is community,” says TPPF’s Kevin Roberts. “Americans gladly give of their own time and money to help their neighbors. It seems counterintuitive, but community is what will help us weather this crisis, even in a time of social distancing.”

Road to Recovery

What to Know: The coronavirus pandemic is changing health care in America. We must make sure it changes for the better.

The TPPF Take: We should ensure that new measures taken because of the outbreak don’t undermine the doctor-patient relationship.

“We can increase some of the things that are already good about our health care system, such as telemedicine,” says TPPF’s David Balat. “As we’re trying to maintain the social distancing, we want to make sure that we can get care from home.”
