Dear Georgian,

Happy Presidents Day weekend! We are blessed to live in the greatest country in the world, and we have had some amazing leaders in the past. I pray that the next leader of the free world is a strong conservative who will unite us as one nation under God.

Last week, news broke that Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny died in prison. Navalny was jailed and killed by Putin for being his political opponent. This is who Putin is and how he has maintained power for so long.

As always, my staff and I are here to help. If you need assistance with a federal agency or have comments or concerns to share with me, please do not hesitate to call my Warner Robins, Tifton, or Washington, D.C. offices. To receive frequent updates, I encourage you to visit my website, like my Facebook page, follow me on YouTube, and follow me on Twitter.

Sincerely,

Impeaching Secretary Mayorkas

Mayorkas’ refusal to enforce the laws of this country makes him unfit to serve as Secretary of Homeland Security. His indifference to the border crisis, which is a serious threat to our national security, is appalling to me and most Americans.

Last week, the House voted to impeach Secretary Mayorkas by a vote of 214-213. I supported this effort, and I am committed to stopping the illegal immigration pouring into our country.

Questioning USDA Secretary Vilsack

Our domestic food supply does not exist without American farm families, and our farmers need support now more than ever. Less than 10% of the Farm Bill is going to support production agriculture- this has to change.

On Wednesday, USDA Secretary Vilsack testified before the House Agriculture Committee. I asked him if he’s even spoken with farmers lately about how increased input costs are impacting them.

Reversing Biden's Dangerous Pause on LNG Exports

Since his first day in office, President Joe Biden has prioritized Green New Deal initiatives and inhibited American energy production.

Last month, the Biden Administration announced they paused all pending non-FTA export permit applications for liquified natural gas (LNG) export projects.

He did this in the name of his misguided progressive climate agenda and disregarded the fact that this now leads countries to turn to our adversaries in Russia and Iran for LNG. This is especially beneficial for Russia, who we are supposed to be enforcing strict sanctions on.

My colleagues in the House and I passed H.R. 7176, Unlocking Our Domestic LNG Potential Act, last week by a vote of 224-200. This bill lifts the Biden Administration's pause on all pending approvals of LNG export terminals and includes strong protections to prohibit trade with a person or foreign country under sanction or listed as a state sponsor of terrorism.

It is imperative for our national security to prioritize American energy production, and it is important for global security to be an energy resource to our allies so they do not have to rely on our adversaries.

"Vice President Harris said she's ready to step in as president amid growing concerns over President Biden’s age and mental acuity, prompting scorn from Republican lawmakers and support from her fellow Democrats...

Rep. Austin Scott, a Republican from Georgia, said he doesn't 'know what she's ready for.'

'She doesn't seem to even make a coherent statement,' Scott said."

Agriculture Trends | 'Vilsack and lawmakers spar over farm economy

"During a sometimes prickly House hearing on Wednesday, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack urged lawmakers to buckle down and write a farm bill that does not cut SNAP or climate funds. Republicans on the House Agriculture Committee said the Biden administration has overlooked the needs of the large-scale farmers who produce the bulk of U.S. crops and livestock...

Georgia Rep. Austin Scott decried SNAP’s growing share of farm bill spending and suggested farmers were shortchanged by it. Oklahoma Rep. Frank Lucas said large operators did not get the share they deserved of a recent disaster program. 'In my view, the federal government should either support producers or get out of the way,' said Rep. Tracey Mann of Kansas."
