Dear Comrade,

This message is to let you know that our general meeting last Tuesday 2-13 produced several outcomes with attendees new and old participating. You can view the meeting minutes here: bit.ly/2-13minutes.

For those who don't want to read through the minutes these are the TLDR highlights:

• Most immediately: We formed an Investigation ad hoc committee to exist until our April General Meeting to coordinate research around possible organizing for the foreseeable future including but not limited to: labor organizing, municipal and legislative efforts to support unions and cooperatives, mutual aid, university student organizing, Palestine solidarity, and divisive concept laws.
  • This committee will also organize outreach to the Memphis-Midsouth DSA membership to get members involved and learn what they want to organize around.
  • If you would like to participate in the first meeting of this ad hoc committee, please fill out this poll ASAP: https://lettucemeet.com/l/BbAEB. The committee will meet sometime this week.
• We will begin holding New Member Orientations sometime in the near future. Our Membership Chair will design and run the orientation.

• Our chapter will hold an informal meeting in March to discuss new areas of work, hear reports from the Investigation Committee, and prepare resolutions for our General Meeting in April. Keep an eye out for a scheduling poll in the coming couple of weeks.

• We sent a representative to participate in a statewide coalition meeting on divisive concept laws on Friday to see if our chapter should get more involved, and we are also reaching out to unionized Starbucks workers in Memphis about the March 12th day of action linked here.
  

• Our Political Education Committee will begin meeting again soon. Please keep an eye out for updates over email or at our new event calendar on our Memphis-Midsouth DSA website: memphisdsa.org/event.

• Our General Meeting schedule for the remainder of the year is as follows: April 9th, June 11th, August 13th, October 8th, and December 10th.

• We still have several officer positions open including: Other Co-chair, Vice-chair of finances, Electoral Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, and HGO. Please contact the Steering Committee if you would like to be considered for any of these positions.
