John,

The United Kingdom was once the standard-bearer for protecting freedom of speech...

...but now, Scotland is waging a full-scale attack on pro-life speech, pushing a 200-meter buffer zone to "stop the protests for good."

Pro-life Scots should take heart because at Ealing's opening event, 40 Days for Life participants on the other side of the island met a baby saved from abortion at their vigil--from hundreds of meters away!

"Prayer warriors in Ealing, England, heard a stunning testimony from a woman who changed her mind in response to a vigil last year," reported director of international campaigns Robert Colquhoun.

The mom's boyfriend and his family were NOT happy that she chose life. She was even warned that the family was trying to poison her to induce an abortion!

Fortunately, pro-lifers helped get the woman out of the boyfriend's house so she could welcome her baby safely.

"She is so happy and grateful and brought her one-week-old baby boy to the Ealing campaign opening event," Robert said.

Sarah (pictured), who leads the vigil, reported that this proud mama is one of three who chose life last year--in spite of the buffer zone!

Former abortion doctor and current 40 Days for Life medical director Dr. Haywood Robinson spent much of the last week on the road visiting 40 Days for Life vigils in Ontario and Michigan.

Wherever he went, he encountered big crowds and high enthusiasm for one of the largest mobilizations of pro-lifers in history. "The energy intensifies," he reported.

Windsor, Ontario

Haywood just returned from north of the border, where he spoke at a massive campaign kickoff rally.

Prayer warriors first gathered in front of the local hospital that performs abortions for an afternoon vigil. Later that evening, HUNDREDS of pro-lifers gathered at a local church to hear Haywood share the powerful testimony of his work as an abortion doctor...and the conversion that led him to become a pro-life advocate.

The event breathed new life into an already strong campaign.

"People were riveted by his message," said Laurie, the longtime Windsor campaign leader. "Many volunteers felt renewed and promised to get back out on the sidewalk after an absence of a few years."

Ferndale, Michigan

Back in the U.S., about 80 people attended Haywood's visit to Ferndale...

...and the event reached many more people thanks to campaign leader Nancy's work engaging the media. Several Catholic and Christian news outlets covered the kickoff rally, including two radio stations that interviewed Haywood.

"What a blessing!" Nancy said, noting that she is hopeful the rally will energize the attendees who are participating in 40 Days for Life for the first time.

Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown his great mercy toward her, and they rejoiced with her.

--Luke 1:58

Dear Lord, thank you for the gift of friendship. Teach us to see your beauty in those around us, and give us the grace to serve our friends and neighbors. We ask you to especially bless the families and friends of expectant mothers. Help those who are close to expectant mothers to offer the compassionate care that Elizabeth’s friends did throughout her pregnancy. Help us never to close our eyes to women in need. Amen.

For life,
