What do you envision it to be like? Multibillion dollar album sales? Breaking records at the Grammys? NFL football and Superbowl LVIII, anyone?

 

Whatever grand view comes to mind, one is likely not  to consider what it must have been like to suddenly learn that images of you have been used to create violent AI-generated pornography, without your consent. But tragically, this is exactly what happened to Taylor Swift just last month.

Addressing Misinformation About the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA)

If you missed the memo: The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) was reintroduced this week, with 62 senate co-sponsors! 


This bill has faced an uphill battle, as it has been the subject of much misinformation and fear mongering. KOSA opponents have tried to paint the bill as harmful to the LGBTQ+ community and to online privacy. 
But this is not true!

 

KOSA has been carefully revised numerous times in light of feedback given from the marginalized groups like the LGBTQ+ community, good-faith industry players, and other key stakeholders. The new draft of the bill which was introduced this week includes even more revisions to be especially certain all concerns are addressed.

Wall Street Journal: NYC Sues Social-Media Companies for Youth Mental-Health Effect

New York City is suing a slate of social-media companies, alleging that they are causing a youth mental-health crisis. Mayor Eric Adams announced Wednesday that the suit against Meta Platforms, YouTube-owner Alphabet, Snap and TikTok-owner ByteDance was looking to force the companies to change their practices and to recover the costs associated with addressing youth mental-health issues...

 

The city alleges that the operators of TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and YouTube designed their platforms purposefully to manipulate children and teens and to make them addicted, the mayor’s office said.
