This week marked six years since the mass shooting in Parkland, FL, and one year since the shooting at Michigan State University.
And while we observed these devastating memorials, our country saw more shootings: At a parade in Kansas City and a high school in Atlanta.
More people are dead or wounded and more communities are grieving because Congress has failed to take life-saving action in the interest of our country. President Biden has taken executive actions where he can and continues to call on Congress to follow suit:
"It is time to act. That’s where I stand. And I ask the country to stand with me. To make your voice heard in Congress so we finally act to ban assault weapons, to limit high-capacity magazines, strengthen background checks… We know what we have to do, we just need the courage to do it."
