Friends, it’s no secret that raising a family is difficult in 2024 – and for a lot of parents out there, they’re feeling like things are only getting harder.
This reality was a big component of President Biden and Democrats pledging to support an expansive care agenda, including improving access to long-term care and child care, paid family and medical leave, and more, throughout our major legislative packages.
Unfortunately, due to opposition from Republicans (who in theory talk a lot about supporting families), these policies were not passed as part of Biden’s first term – meaning we’re going to see issues related to families throughout the 2024 re-election campaign.
At Data for Progress, we don’t just look for historically progressive audiences & what fires them up, but also groups of voters that Biden can win through strong policy reforms. And based on our latest polling, family-voters may very well be one of those groups:
With relatively even levels of support between Biden and Trump, policies like expanding long-term care and free Pre-K are powerful tools for the campaign to talk about. That’s part of the power of our polling efforts, identifying wedge issues like these. Can we count on your grassroots support up into the 2024 election?
