Dear Parish Social Minister,
Now that many parishes are shuttered, it may be a good time to encourage parishioners to write their lawmakers and engage in legislative advocacy on social policy issues.
To assist in promoting this, a few years ago the Catholic Charities USA Parish Social Ministry Leadership Team produced a newsletter and webinar on parish social ministry and legislative advocacy. They and other resources may be found here: https://www.catholiccharitiesusa.org/our-ministry/leadership-development-catholic-identity/parish-social-ministry-resources/
Also, those engaged in advocacy will profit from reading Catholic Charities USA’s “Washington Weekly” email blast and receiving our regular action alerts. Sign up here.
Finally, click here to read recent statements and letters from CCUSA’s advocacy team. Three significant items of note are:
CCUSA joins with America’s charities requesting $60 billion infusion of support to help the most vulnerable
CCUSA asks Congressional Leadership and House and Senate Appropriators to Increase Funding for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program in COVID-19 Stimulus Bill.
CCUSA joins USCCB, CHA and CLINIC in urging DHS to remove barriers to care during COVID-19 pandemic
God’s peace to all during these challenging days.
