Lesko in Committee

I’m pleased Arizona Corporation Commissioner, Nick Meyers, was able to join the Energy and Commerce Committee’s Energy Subcommittee hearing this week to show Washington a thing or two about energy priorities.

We must ensure reliability and affordability are at the forefront of our energy policy priorities and Arizona provides a great example of those values in action. See my remarks on the topic at this week’s hearing below:

A former constituent of the district, Steve Wenger, was required by his employer to receive the COVID vaccine, it resulted in him developing paralysis determined by his medical team to be caused by the vaccine. He has yet to hear back on his claim to the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP) more than 2 years later.

This is a tragic story that is all too common. Hear my remarks on this and more at the Select Subcommittee on COVID below:

GET THE FACTS: Green Energy's War on Appliances

The Wall Street Journal recently reported on the correlation between the energy efficiency, affordability, and performance of household appliances. The Department of Energy has introduced more regulations for home appliances that will go into effect over the next few years. Although the Appliance Standards Awareness Project claimed that annual utility bills and the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere would decrease, the prices of appliances that meet the regulations could increase up to 10% to accommodate updated hardware according to Paul Storch, the owner of a company that “imports and manufactures niche appliances.” In addition, the energy efficient models of home appliances are more expensive and prone to damage. In the article, an industry group voices their concern that although the pressure from Congress to regularly introduce new standards increases home appliances’ energy efficiency, “Some can’t improve much more without harming performance.” That’s why I am pleased to have introduced the Hands Off Our Home Appliances Act which passed the Energy and Commerce House Committee last year. Around the District

Team Lesko attended the 4th Annual Women Marines Association AZ-1 Roadrunner Chapter’s Operation Rose Garden at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Following the ceremony, 135 women Marines were honored with the laying of a single long stem red rose at their headstone.

Last weekend, Team Lesko hosted a table at Surprise Arizona’s 2024 Vet Fest. We were able to meet with local Arizona veterans and show them how our office could assist them in dealing with federal agencies.

Casework Highlight

A constituent could not get information from Medicare regarding their coverage with the Medicare Advantage program. Recently a change occurred, and they were now being billed for medical visits that should be covered. Our office contacted Medicare regarding their coverage, corrected the issue, and ensured the medical visits would be covered moving forward.
