Sylvia and Fred: A story of hope  
 
As we all begin to settle into a new routine, we hope things will start to feel a little less stressful. We hope you and your family are keeping safe , and we want you to know that you can always [ reach out to our team ]( [link removed] ) if you would like to chat.
 
We thought we'd start the day by sharing Sylvia and Fred's story, all the way from Uganda. Sylvia and Fred remind us that promoting the importance of good sanitation and hygiene practices can make a world of difference.

Sylvia and Fred's children would often get sick with diarrhoea. However, since receiving hygiene and sanitation training from Send a Cow, the family keep their [ latrine clean ]( [link removed] ) and ensure there is always a[ tip tap ]( [link removed] ) set up outside to wash their hands with.    
 
"[Our latrine] is clean, our hygiene has improved so much." Sylvia has watched as the family's overall health has gone from strength to strength, meaning her children have been able to stay in school and fulfil their potential.

We recognise that families can’t practice handwashing without access to water. And that’s where [ rainwater catchment ]( [link removed] ) tanks come in.
 
As well as helping families to build their own tip-taps, we support them in building their own rainwater catchment tanks and clean latrines. Combined, these small changes have a huge impact, keeping families healthy and safe from disease.
